U.S and Canada wide mobilizations declare "Immigrant Rights are Workers Rights"

For Immediate Release

April 30 2007. Last May, millions of immigrant workers across North America took to the streets in "The Great American Boycott: A Day Without an Immigrant".

This year, groups in the US and Canada will be taking to the streets again to declare that ‘Immigrant Rights are Workers Rights.’

In Canada, grassroots groups are mobilizing for a National Week of Action to demand full regularization for all migrants, an end to detentions and deportations, and an end to exploitative working conditions – which are made worse by guest worker programs.

The week starts with rallies in Vancouver and Ottawa on May 1st and will end on May 5th with rallies in Montreal and Toronto. Other events will also be taking place in Sudbury, Winnipeg, Halifax, and other cities across Canada.
